Home Sweet Home
One of the main reasons I started Mutts About You is for the good of our dogs. In 2011, I resigned my position as Staff Dog Trainer at the Humane Society in the town where I live after serving for almost two years. Yes, it was very stressful and I often witnessed the worst in humanity, but mostly, I saw that many dogs were surrendered or not picked up by their owners due to behavioral issues that could easily have been modified with a little knowledge. Because I have such a passion for homeless dogs, I am now the Certified Dog Trainer for Three Rivers Humane Society in Madras, Oregon, and Training Consultant for Home At Last Humane Society in The Dalles, Oregon.
With positive, reward based training, your dog will quickly see you as the "giver of all good gifts" and will happily modify or learn new behaviors. Not to mention, it strengthens the bond between the two of you. There is no force involved, no yelling, and never any harsh correction! It's all based on good proven science of how a dog's brain works and how we, as humans, can learn to effectively communicate with a species that doesn't speak our language!
My dogs don't have any fancy titles or ribbons, haven't earned any points or trophies, they are simply and plainly just good, well-behaved dogs that warm my heart every time I lay eyes on them! 3 of them are registered therapy dogs and have the joy of bringing smiles and joy to those they are privileged to visit. If that's what you want, too, then Mutts About You - Dog Training for the Rest of Us is just what you need! I provide low cost, personal attention and if I don't know the answer, I know where to find it!
